Programme and approach
A ten-day, nine-night international experience across farms, wineries, bakeries, dairies, fishing and Sicilian hospitality culture.
01
A journey through Sicily’s living culture
Roots of Sicily brings together archaeology, cuisine, agriculture, landscape and food culture through wineries, mills, bakeries, dairies, farms, educational holdings, preserve makers, fisheries and kitchens. Historical heritage and Sicily’s wider culture connect the itinerary. Each visit is prepared as a learning encounter rather than a simple excursion.
02
People before places
Farmers, artisans, fishers, breeders, chefs and hospitality professionals explain the choices, skills and challenges behind their work. Knowledge comes through direct relationships with producers.
03
Contemporary Sicily, interpreted in English
The entire programme is available in English. Vocabulary, cultural interpretation and shared discussion help international groups, families, students and professionals understand Sicily beyond stereotypes: its archaeology, landscape, cuisine, agriculture and wider culture.
04
Villa Ofelia: an authentic, shared home
Villa Ofelia is not a luxury residence, nor does it aim to be one. It is a country house inside the Park, chosen as a genuine base from which to experience the territory. Rooms are functional and many spaces are shared: the table, living areas, garden and working rooms make communal life an essential part of the programme.
05
Adaptable for groups, families and students
On request, the programme can be designed for small international groups, schools, universities, families, students and professionals. Duration, depth and activities are tailored to the group while direct engagement with supply chains, archaeological heritage and hospitality culture remains central.
